Osmania University was founded in the year 1918 and was named after Hyderabad’s Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan. S. Ramachandram is the vice-chancellor of the university. Under-graduate courses began at the university in the year 1925.
In 1934, the present campus began functioning after the previous campus was left. The university was placed on 6th position in the list of Nation’s Premier Universities in Humanities in the year 2012.

Courses offered and Fee structure
Osmania University offers 22 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate courses. These courses are covered in the time period of one year to five years. Diploma, PG diploma and certification courses are also available in the university. Integrated courses like M.Sc etc. are also available in the university.
Undergraduate Programs
Osmania University courses offered at UG level are B Tech (Bachelor of Technology), B E (Bachelor of Engineering), LLB (Bachelor of Law), B.Ed Bachelor of Education) etc. These programs are covered in duration between one and four years. B Tech course includes specializations in Textile Technology, Food Technology and Chemical Engineering.
BE is available in disciplines like Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering etc.
BE and B Tech course fee is Rs. 47,500. B Com course fee is Rs. 21,000, BSc course fee is Rs. 6,000, BA course fee is Rs. 3,000, BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) course fee is Rs. 17,100 and BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) course fee is Rs. 10,440.
Postgraduate Programs
The PG courses available at the university include ME, M Tech, MMS (Master in Management Studies), MBA, MSc, MA, MSW (Master of Social Work), MCJ (Master of Communication & Journalism), LLM (Master of Law), MCA, MPEd etc. These courses are covered in one to two years duration.
MSc course is available with specializations in Chemistry, Microbiology, Applied Geology, Astronomy, Genetics, Microbiology, Statistics, Geoinformatics etc.
M Tech is available with disciplines like Process Control, Food Process Engineering, Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical Technology, Plant Design, Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering etc.ME course fee is Rs. 50,000, MMS course fee is Rs. 1 lakh, the MBA course fee is Rs. 1.50 lakhs, MPEd course fee is Rs. 30,070 and MA course fee is Rs. 2,400.
Integrated, doctorate and diploma courses
Postgraduate Diploma, PhD, Advanced diploma etc. courses are also provided by the university. These courses are of one to two years of duration. Advanced Diploma fee is Rs. 2,200, PhD fee is Rs. 3,000 and Post Graduate Diploma fee is Rs. 2,200.
Admission Process
All the applicants are selected for admission in a particular course offered by the university on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying exam. The qualifying exams are OUCET (Osmania University (CPGET), GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering), TSICET (Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test) etc. MSc, MCom, MA, MCJ etc. candidates are required to get certain marks in the OUCET exam.
MBA candidates are required to score certain marks in the GATE exam and MCA candidates are required to get certain marks in the TS ICET. These qualifying exams are followed by the counselling round. The selection of the candidates depends on the overall, marks scored in the qualifying exam and interview round.
- For admission to the Ll.B. course, the university considers LAWCET scores, conducted by APSCHE.
- For Osmania University admission in full-time undergraduate level B.Sc, BA, B.B.A., B.Com, B.C.A. and B.Com. courses are selected based on marks secured in the Common Entrance Test.
- For admission in the full-time undergraduate level, B.P.Ed courses are taken based on performance in the PECET conducted by APSCHE.
- On UG level, admission to the B.Tech, B.E. and B.Pharm. candidates are selected on the basis of EAMCET marks.
- For admission to the Postgraduate level M.A, M.Ed., M.P. Ed., MSW, M.L.I.S and Ll.M. courses candidates are required to appear for the Osmania University Entrance Test.
- For admission in the PhD course, marks in the qualifying exam are taken into consideration.
Placements
Osmania University has its own placement cell functioned by seniors and controlled by the director Prof. V. Usha Kiran. The training session also takes place in which passed out students achieve efficiency in their soft skills under the guidance of senior members of the cell.
They create a real work environment in which students understand the scenario and challenges of the workplace in a better way. On-site campus placement gives a fair chance to all the students for job opportunities.
A pre-placement talk is held between students and recruiters. Top recruiters of the university include TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Deloitte, Mahindra, Tata Consultancy etc.
Results and Cut-off
Osmania University results and the cut-off list are announced after the qualifying exam results are out. Osmania University degree results 2019 is prepared on the basis of a number of appearing candidates, the difficulty level of the qualifying exams, their scores in the exam and the number of seats available in the university for different courses.
Candidates have to score equal to or more than the cut-off score in order to get entry into a particular course. For example, MCom and MSc candidates have to cross the OUCET cut-off mark while MBA candidates have to cross the GATE cut-off mark.

Scholarships
UG and PG students are provided scholarships based on their academic performance. Poor and meritorious belonging to SC/ST and minority category are given scholarships on a yearly basis. Special scholarships for students with mental and physical disabilities are also available in the university.
